Hello, I am Nandini, and am a proud member of Bengali Association of Pittsburgh since 1996.
As most of you know, I was diagnosed with Acute Mylogenous Leukemia or AML in 2009. I am a survivor, following a bone marrow transplant from an unrelated donor.It has been 18 months since the transplant, medications are still continuing, and I still have no immunity.
However, there are less fortunate ones, and each year more and more are being struck by - BLOOD CANCER!This all powerful disease spares no one.

I am taking this opportunity only to emphasize what a great organization BAP is.
Last week I had an experience that made me long for my days with BAP intensely.

I left Pittsburgh in August 2010. So far, I have been starving. So when I saw that Farhat Fateh Ali Khan (from the family of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan) is singing here on 23rd April, I bought a pair of ticket for my wife and myself. The lowest was $35 each. The Auditorium was in downtown Sacramento. It is a vast and majestic Auditorium. There were 2000 very happy people from the sub-continent.

My name is Smita Mukherjee and I am a recent member of BAP.

I wanted to let you know that I am running in Pittsburgh's relay marathon on May 15, 2011 in order to raise funds for Association for India's Development (AID).

After completing my Arangetram with Smt. Nandini Mandal (Nandini mashi, as I call her) after my freshmen year at Pitt, I was on the look out for a way to keep up dancing on campus. As most of you know, I cannot live with out dance. But with pharmacy classes, activities, and a job making it very difficult to travel to Mt. Lebanon for dance class every week, I had no other option.
